FOUR-LETTER WORDS?

Some think it’s the 4-letter words that are the problem; I think there is sufficient evidence to prove only a minor transposition to three letters will reveal a more exact word: S I N

Technically, SIN, is any transgression against God (or his Word). All SIN is “against God” as David wrote (Psalm 51:4) and no sin is ever "private" sin. Paul Johnson (the English historian) contends “that the great obstacle to modern belief in human sin began with the loss of belief in individual responsibility.“ “If worth is not God-given, it must be established by man.” — Chuck Colson It was Spinoza who observed that “Man builds his kingdoms in accord with his concept of God.”

Be honest, chew these few quotes seriously and it is no wonder we have corruption in every field of every man’s endeavor whether it is law, medicine or God forbid, theology. If we “think away” SIN, we lower the bar to forbid nothing. Sadly, our government, because it is “run” by humans, is not immune to such pathology. Let’s flip this coin and consider: “A private faith that does not act in the face of oppression is no faith at all.” This is Chuck Colson’s consensus of the principles guiding Wilberforce as he valiantly battled the scourge of slavery. (William Wilberforce is perhaps the best known of the abolitionists.)
